::Coats for Kids::

Just a reminder that we will begin collecting coats THIS SUNDAY!

You will only have two Sundays to bring in your coats, so PLEASE don’t forget!!

We’re also planning to go deliver the coats November 20th together. This will be such a great opportunity for your family to serve another family!! Consider coming with us and showing your children what it looks like to serve those who have less!! There will be a sign up sheet at the check-in table on Sunday AM, but if you think you might forget, just drop us a comment here or send the office an email to let us know that you and your family plan to come with us.

I don’t think we know exactly what time we’ll be meeting yet, but it will probably be around 11am and I will definitely let you know beforehand 🙂 We typically stop to grab lunch on the way.

Here are the coats I bought for a grand low (when you consider how many coats I bought) total of $38!!

That’s six coats for $38, meaning that I paid roughly $6.30/coat. I know a lot of you have children and coats they’ve grown out of to donate, but at these kinds of steals you could possibly afford to donate your children’s gently used coats AND buy a couple more! I found two of these at the Fish Thrift Store in Loganville and I kind of felt like I probably bought all the decent looking and warm kids’ coats that they had. But then I noticed a kids consignment shop just right across the street and dropped in there. I bought the other four coats there and there were several others I could have bought! As I was ringing up, the lady at the register actually told me that they would possibly be able to donate coats to our collection, so if you stop in there mention it to them! I will definitely be hitting them up for anything they’re willing to share because there are A LOT of kids living in these refuge apartment complexes who are in need of warm coats this Winter!! Don’t forget about them!!

Where to shop for coats this weekend!

Old Navy is celebrating their Sweet 16th birthday with a sale! Yes! But maybe instead of going there to stock up on clothing for you and your family consider going and purchasing a new coat for one, or several, kids living in the Refuge Apartments! Although if you really do need to shop for your family this is a good place to check out. However, then you should consider cleaning out the clothes you’ll be replacing and donating those to the families in the refuge apartments. I’m just sayin’, do we really NEED a closet full of clothes? For $16 a piece you could probably get two coats with the money you set aside to buy one coat with. Score! Two kids will get coats because of your family’s generosity and Old Navy’s birthday celebration 🙂

I couldn’t find on the website when the sale ends but I’m guessing it’s only on for the weekend, so shop soon!

We still won’t be collecting until the first Sunday in November though, so hold on to your purchases until then.

Coats for Kids

::ATTENTION PARENTS::

As we head into the month of November, we are going to be talking to your kids about how God takes care of us. God also asks us to take care of others. First we have to see a need and then we have to do something about it. We want your families to begin looking through your kids’ closets for clean, gently-used coats or buy a brand new coat to donate to the kids living in the Refuge Apartments. We’ll be collecting the coats on Sunday mornings for the first two weeks of November.

::A Messy Morning in Club 252::

We played a game. It was really a stretch trying to make it apply to our lesson, so I decided to not even try 🙂

Regardless it was fun!

::Our Awesome Small Group Leaders::

We have an awesome group of people who serve in CLUB 252! Everyone of them play an important part in making Sunday morning happen and are all appreciated. In an attempt to introduce you, in case you’ve not met before, to all the small group leaders who are leading your children on Sunday mornings, I’m going to dedicate a post to each and every one of them. If you as parents ever have spare time, and stationary, it would be super cool if you could drop your child’s sg leaders a note of encouragement. These are the people to partner with when discipling your child! How awesome if you decided you were going to nurture your child’s relationship with his or her small group leader knowing that there will be times when they won’t be willing to listen to you and will need another adult who can pour into them. The relationship between your child and their sg leader is definitely one you want your child having!!

Today I want to introduce you to Shawn Richards. She is such a great addition to our Children’s Ministry Volunteer Team!! She is a teacher at Sharon Elementary school and it shows. She is always so prepared and goes out of her way to make sure she has activities that the kids in her small group will love! She has always lead the Kindergarten/1st grade group and recently moved up to the 1st/2nd grade small group so that she could follow her group of kids through elementary school. She has such a cool connection with each of them! If your child is in her small group you probably get post cards from her sent to your house often 🙂

We love Shawn! And her two daughters, Karlee & Ashlyn, who are learning to serve just like their Momma. And her husband, Scott, for sharing her with us!

::God-Time & Refrigerator Door Cards::

Yesterday we taught the kids that what goes in must come out. This applies to pretty much everything, including our hearts. Garbage in, garbage out. Bad words in, bad words out. Good thoughts in, good thoughts out.

Remind your kids “Think about what God says, and it’ll change you.Philippians 4:8

I promise to get back in the habit of blogging soon! Between school starting back, work for me, then buying and moving into our first house, it’s been a busy month for the Dells! But don’t worry! I know there are still SEVERAL awesome small group leaders to be recognized. I haven’t forgotten 😉

Just because you didn’t start a fight doesn’t mean you can’t stop it. Sometimes you have to GET INVOLVED. If not for the cool, calm wisdom of Abigail, everyone would’ve paid the price for Nabal’s rude, selfish behavior and David’s hot-headed reaction (1 Samuel 25).

*If your a parent with a child new to CLUB 252 this year, aka a kindergarten parent, the God-Time Cards are designed to be a quiet time that your child can do during the week.  I would actually encourage you to do them along with your child. They’re totally age appropriate and easy to do! The coolest thing about it is that they go along with what we’re learning about in Club 252!  The Refrigerator Door Cards are good too! They’re meant to simply hang on your fridge to give you a few conversation starters for meal times or any other time you tend to enjoy chatting with your kids!

These are awesome, easy to use tools to help YOU disciple your child!! We wouldn’t share them with you if we didn’t think they were worth your time 🙂

Hope you all have a great week!!

God-Time & Refrigerator Door Cards + A Few Fun Fotos :)

Here’s what we learned yesterday in CLUB 252:

It’s better to let go than to get even.

Sometimes you have to CHOOSE TO FORGIVE. Jacob was a liar and a cheat, but Esau demonstrated the upside of letting go (Genesis 33).

Thank you EVERYONE who contributed!! The kids were SO EXCITED!

God-Time & Refrigerator Door Cards

This month we’re learning about the virtue of peace in Club 252. It’s a cool thing to learn about because Jesus told us that those who are peacemakers will be blessed. Sometimes it’s hard to be a peacemaker because I forget that whatever my agenda is, it should never be more important than the person I disagree with. We told the kids that peace is “proving that you care more about others than winning an argument.” The bottom line for last Sunday was, “making peace does not make you weak.”

In Genesis chapter 26 we read about Issac’s conflict with the locals over water rights and how he chose to be the peacemaker even though he was very powerful. That choice didn’t make him weak but actually demonstrated true strength!

God-Time & Refrigerater Door Cards

What in the world are you doing to put others first? Jesus put others first in countless ways, and He wants us to do the same (John 13:1-17). Me first or you first? Our words and actions answer that question every day. Do our words and actions help others experience Jesus’ love?
